Racing day!

Earlier this month we were invited along to Knockhill Race Circuit in Scotland with one of our clients, Translift Bendi, for a racing experience.

At first we were under the impression that we would go up in the morning, watch some of the pro’s race and then in the afternoon we would take part in the go-karting, but no…..we were the ones doing the racing!! We got our briefing, where we found out that we would be driving Subaru Impreza’s. Surprisingly, coming from someone who drives like a rally driver anyway, I was terrified! Helmets on and split in to groups of four, we were off. The plan was to have  5 laps one way around the track, then 5 laps back round the other way….and then one lap with the instructor at the wheel. All of the men loved being at the wheel themselves, but the highlight for me was definitely being driven round by the instructor….they do not mess about!

After  lunch we got in to our overalls and in to our go-karts. We were split in to teams again, so the competitive spirit was back. As it had been pouring down all morning, the track was very slippy….but this just made it more fun for us. After an hour of tactical manoeuvres and competitive crashes we were called in to find out which team had won. It was no surprise to find out that the winning team was made up of Managing Director of Bendi, Simon Brown, and long-time racer and organiser of the event, Sandy McEwen (fix, anybody?!?).

It was a brilliant day out, and I would recommend it to anyone
